The walls and towers of the Rocca Maggiore offer excellent views of Assisi and the Umbrian countryside below. There is a lot of area to explore inside the fortress, and it is much larger than it appears from below. Particularly interesting is the internal passageway to an additional tower. Some rooms are sparsely furnished, and many have nothing at all.... more
