Well worth an afternoon. Easy stroll around nice gardens. A good collection of content looking animals - large and small. When we visited they were undertaking a new build project for the apes, but it didn't distract from the rest of the zoo. Right by a tram station as well.

Very big zoo and vera well maintained. It is specially surprinsing to see such a zoo in the center of a city!!! The pinguin parade should not be missed if visiting in winter. Lets note the Basel ahve girafs which Zurich has not.

I am always curious how A City Zoo is set up. There is always little space and needs special architecture. The Zoo in Basel has combined a large variety of species and buildings in a very attractive way. overall a good day out. the rhinos and hippos were amazing bit its. a fine line between being educational or cruel. i wouldbt have gone if it wasnt for my mates kid but i did quite enjoy it :-)

Especially the new ape house is amazing... green & relaxed atmosphere for leisure moments... from parents with kids to couples longing for a romantic day or creative singles working on their sketching techniques...

If you happen to be in Basel and have some time during weekends, a trip to the Zoo would be great. Located near downtown Basel, well connected by Bus, the zoo is easy to get to

Because we have seen the Singapore Zoo, we didn't find this one to be anything great but nonetheless it was a good experience to visit with a kid.
