Tinguely certainly made a lot out of junk. I enjoyed a few of the kinetic sculptures, particularly the Tinguely fountain (not here but in Barfussplatz) but there's only so many kinetic whirlygigs that I can put up with. Also once a sculpture has been activated, it takes 5 - 7 minutes before it can be started again. So we spent... More

Such a great place. Everybody was so friendly. We speak Italian (we speak German too) but when they heard us speaking Italian everybody made the effort either to speak Italian with the children or French with us. The Museum itself is beautiful and the exhibits are truly interesting. A great spot in Basel. More

The exhibits rotate - literally, the permanent Tingley pieces move and are fun to see, and also about a quarter of the exhibits change fairly frequently. The building has beautiful views of the Rhine and is a wonderful space to visit. This is a fun, interesting museum of modern and public art, worth the trip. More

The whimsical kinetic sculptures make this place a must for families. Make no mistake, this is art, full of irony, cryptic references, and dadaist spirit. Treat it as seriously or as lightly as you want. It's also a great place to take pictures of your family or loved ones, as the sculptures provide an interesting backdrop. After visiting here, be... Curious how a load of junk, welded together and electrified can make you laugh. Ingenious but essentially useless contraptions unless you count their amusement value which in itself, I suppose makes the exhibits useful. A fun place to take children. More

Thought the interactivity and movement of most of the pieces was intereseting enough for younger childer (older then 6) while still anexceptional museum for us Adults (older childernat heart). While not many of the classical portatis and sculputres that is part of what makesit so good. For a very small preview go the the Tinguely fountain near the theater. More

For young and old - art lovers or not - this is an amazing place to spend an hour or two. It certainly gives you food for thought and is entertaining at the same time. Definitely a message for the over-materialistic! More
