Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After being a cemetery until the early 1950ies, this large park now offers big old trees, meadows, playgrounds and even a little water pool in summer. Quite a walk from the city center (via Spalentor), you can also reach it by tram 3.

The park is quite centrally located and it is easily reached with the tram. It is a good choice to have a quiet day at the park and relax. You an go to enjoy the sun, have a picnic, play some games, or just sunbathe. We were a group of friends that chose this park to spend our Sunday in Basel. We had a bbq and it was lovely. We found an available wooden table under the shadow and ate. It was lovely!

Just be careful to follow the rules if you want to grill as well!

Large playgrounds and play areas dominate this park, and vast swathes of grass allow for comfortable relaxation or activities. A gravel path circumnavigates the entire walled park (it is closed overnight), and there are various other paths that slice through the middle of the park. A small cafe is located at the main entrance on the south side. There is also an area to play table tennis and a new "sunken garden" area with many benches and lounging seats. Look for the larger-than-life troll along the main path!

It is easily accessed by Trams 1 & 3, and Busses 50, 38 and probably some others that I never take :)

We came here twice with our young kids during stopovers in Basel. The playgrounds are good, with some very tall slides, and interesting climbing frames. It seemed to me that the Swiss are a bit happier with mild danger in children's playgrounds than many other countries are. There are quite a few high drops and a ridge they can climb on with very steep sides. Also, they don't have the soft rubbery ground that's used in many playgrounds in the UK and France: they just have pebbles or woodchips. So if you're an anxious parent like me you might find it a bit alarming at first, but my kids coped fine! There's also a nice paddling pool with fountains.

It's a green space, which are actually quite limited in Basel. But other than that it's pretty average in terms of flora and facilities. Ok for a warm day or a stroll but certainly not worth making a special visit.

This is one of my and kids favorite playgrounds. It has lots of space, many attractions for the kids including their favorite climbing tower with slides.
There is as well a small coffee where you can as well buy ice cream in the summer

Came across this place by accident when stopped in Basel on a river cruise and found it to be an oasis in the city for a pleasant walk. Popular with families.

I took my 1 year old granddaughter there yesterday. We found the park clean, well enjoyed by many and with lots to see and do. There were several groups having picnics, the tables scattered around the park and again very clean. There are several play areas separated by walking paths....try one area or try them all as we did. My only disappointment was there was only one baby swing that was fully occupied the entire time we were in the section for little ones, so we didn't get to swing. For kids 2 and above this would be a tremendous park to run, climb, play and blow off steam. There are plenty of more challenging and quite impressive for older kids 10 plus too.

Overall very well designed, clean and large play and relax area in the core of Basel. Well done!

A very nice park\green space in the city. It's acceptable to Bar-B-Q here if you want. There are places for children to play as well as places for adults to relax far away from those loud happy little people - overall a nice place to spend a warm day in summer or take a walk in the winter.
