This is a beautiful 17th century baroque church. The onion-topped towers can be seen from far away across the River Reuss. The rose pink and white inside was amazing with wonderful plasterwork and paintings on the ceiling. One feels small when standing close to the beautiful and big high altar. There is no entrance fee. The day we visited the church was on one of the most miserable days in Luzern. The heavy snowfall outside promted us to spend much of the day doing indoorsy things. With its onion domes on the outside, the Jesuit Church promised to be something rather special from the get-go; but I was not prepared for the stunning views on... More

There was a light show on the walls of the church at night, which was night but completely deserted inside. Felt a bit unsafe in there. More

As an architectural and historical artefact, das Jesuitenkirche can't be beat: an in-your-face, double-barrelled, baroque shotgun-blast of post-Reformation Catholic faith. As a place to pray in, some might find all that stuff more than a little distracting. More

If you're a sucker for gloriously appointed churches, then this one may be up your street. It's perfectly situated on the River Reuss in central Lucerne, so within walking distance of everywhere. It's not really on the big tourist trail, so you probably won't get the busloads of tourists being shunted between the Dying Lion and Chapel Bridge popping in... More

An early morning walk by the lake in the cold drizzling rain. An imposing Orthodox looking building with onion domes and gold work. A beautiful male voice seeped through the heavy door inviting the curious. A wonderful interior. More

Ok, so I literally walked past this a handful of times and because the outside is so plain I almost missed it. (Literally I kept avoiding it). Then I went in. I was blown away. Pink and Gold baroque. IT WAS SIMPLE AMAZING. I just stared for an hour. More
