Once you have done other special trains in Switzerland, you need not spend on this one. I would simply use my Swiss Pass. The only good thing is the Gruyeres Castle. The cheese factory and chocolate factory are quite disappointing to be honest. More

Nothing to dislike about this train ride. Scenery is fantastic, tours of a cheese and Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory excellent...especially the chocolate factory. Warning: don't overdose on all the free chocolate as we did. Gruyeres Castle stopover is an interesting place to walk around and have lunch, but you might want to check out the HR Giger Museum; its got some... More

The chocolate factory "tour" is exactly like being at Disney World--moving from dark room to dark room and watching animated figures and hearing a recorded voice. You only get a glimpse of the actual factory. The cheese factory is also artificial--it was built just for tourists, although they do actually make cheese there. On the other hand, the trip is... You can't miss the chocolate train as it's painted in gold! You can choose from a modern panoramic carriage or older carriages. You are given a hot drink & croissant at the beginning of your journey, get off at Gruyerer cheese factory before departing by bus to Gruyerer where you have a couple of hours to have a look around/eat.... The chocolate train tour had its few positive moments, but my general thought is that the tour is not worth spending nearly $100 per person or spending almost the whole day of your Swiss vacation on. The postive - Gruyere was very cute and scenic. Although we did not browse the shops or eat at any of the restaurants, the... More

Good -- we loved the train ride, the cheese, and the village of Gruyere. Bad -- staff on board seem to be more interested in receiving a tip rather than being a hostess. I would do it again just for the opportunity of shopping and having lunch in Gruyere. The town is lovely, the museum is unique, and the castle... More

We took the train from Montreux to Broc. It wasn't the official "Chocolate Train" - there really is no need to book that tour, just take the train to Broc - the view is the same, the train is the same and the destination is the same. When you arrive in the simple little town of Broc, you'll be amazed... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. For most of our time in Switzerland we had a car rental and drove around. We decided to splurge on this 1-day tour to have the chance to just sit back and enjoy - we are so glad we did! The old train itself is just lovely. Very comfortable and charming. My partner and I... we were very excited to go on the chocolate train trip with our 3 and a half year old girl. she was talking about it weeks before even going to Switzerland and we were rereading "Curious George visit to the chocolate factory" and imagining our trip. But the whole day was very disappointing. First we traveled for almost an hour... More
