This river-fed swimming area (open for swimming only in summer, June-September) is one of the most trendy places in Zurich. Accordingly, it's often overcrowded, especially on weekends if the weather is fine. If possible, come here on a weekday of be early enough to catch one of the last places to sit down.

For someone who grew up at the beach, I find Letten a complete joke. There are far better places to go swimming in Zürich. Go to Greifensee or to the lake at Rapperswil, far far better.

The Oberer Letten is a free public swimming place along a river canal. It's provides changing rooms, showers, and toilets and has on both sides of the river a little snackbar. On one side, there are two beach volleyball fields, too. On warm days, it is usually very crowded and a place to see and be seen.
