I had toured a number of cathedrals while I was in Maastricht, so this one caught me a little off guard. I had done very little research prior to my visit to Maastricht, so it was my own naivete. From the outside, it appears to be (and is, in fact) a very old cathedral. The architecture is amazing, both inside... More

My friend and I ventured in on a whim, only when we walked in did I remember reading all the reviews about it. The church really is quite something to look at and you can get up close and personal AND take pictures. The ceiling art is faded but still looks beautiful. It was also pretty wonderful to venture into... More

The Selexyz bookstore housed in an old 13th century church. The architecture is gorgeous. Just seeing how the built around the columns and stuff is really interesting. There is what has to be the most gorgeous bookstore coffeeshop ever inside. Seems like a great selection of Dutch books and a decent selection of English books. Tons of magazines, again mostly... The bookstore is magnificent in the old church. The collection is quite large and you can spend hours in the store without getting bored. I'm a book lover and I have seen quite a few stores, but this is for sure my favorite. More

When I was a student this church was used to host big parties (it was already no longer a church) now it is a book store. The book collection, though huge, is not terrific. But the location is. So if you are a tourist in Maastricht than certainly visit this bookstore and look around and browse through the books or... More

I wasn't expecting much when a Dutch friend told me to visit this "bookstore in an old church." I didn't expect it to be so cool. It is simple enough: a bookstore, composed of multi-tiered racks (like a library) holding books, right down the nave. You can actually get up close with parts of arches that you normally have to... read about it in the to-do guide in Maastricht and strolled along there on saturday morning and it was brilliant. It brought back to me the reason why I love reading and why my bookshelves at home are crammed with books. None of this kindle/reading on computers for me... it's brilliant. and it's free. All sorts of books (both English... More
