Not quite on a par with St Mark's square in Venice, but nonetheless, a very nice place to meet up with people or stop off for a drink and watch the world go by. It's a big square where people congregate. There are several (poor) street performers, lots of pigeons (we saw some people holding them - yuck), and trash. There is some monument statue thing on one end and I think the building is suppose to be of some significance but you honestly can't really see or tell with all the junk going... more

I was a little disappointed in DAM square. It's just a big square where people hang out. There are so many other things to do in the city. You'll surely pass through the square on your way to one of the many wonderful things to do in Amsterdam! more

Dam square has many attractions and is a very busy square. We preferred to use it as a hub to all the places we wished to visit.
