Good for a brief visit, this house gives an insight into how the beautiful canal houses of high-society looked like on the inside when they were first constructed. The museum does however lack on explanations and each of the four floors are quickly covered. It would have been a lot better with more description of the items, an audio guide,... More

Free admission with the Museumkaart, spouse wanting to get a slower start to the day, so why not check it out. It's an interesting glimpse into the well to do lifestyle from centuries past. No great insights, but some nice works of art, and surely worth 40 - 50 minutes on a cool morning. More

A quieter house than others in Amsterdam, this gave us a great insight into the lives of the owners. Ample information in English & helpful staff. Would recommend. Enjoy the walk around the neighbourhood as well. More

It was an excellant museum of a wealthy familiy's home. Well laid out and had the most beautiful garden in the back. We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the benches and admiring all the efforts of the gardener. Quite and beautiful. More

This is advertised as a re-creation of a seventeenth century canal-side mansion, on Herengracht close to Rembrandtplein. The collection of fine china, glassware etc is certainly very pretty, but it can hardly be an accurate representation of what the place would have been like in its prime. You don't get any feeling of what it would have been like to... More

This house shows you what a house looked like when the canal houses were first built. Walking through the canals after your visit brings them to life. Use the audio guide More

This was an inexpensive (maybe 8E) way to spend a rainy few hours indoors. The only thing that would have made it even better for me would have been more descriptions of the items I was viewing. That's not a negative against the museum, but rather me wanting details, details. It was nice to be able to freely take pictures and... More

Worth a short visit if you want to get a sense of how wealthy people lived and see inside one of the wonderful canal houses, but start with the short film or you will be a bit lost. Garden too is pretty. Entrance is free with the Amsterdam city card. There is another house open to the public just round... More
