This is a typical Brown Cafe, or as we would call them in our area, the "corner bar". A place for locals and visitors to gather, enjoy a brew, and people-watch or start a conversation. Grab a beer, then stand or sit and relax. Located on the Spui there is always a great deal of activity that adds to the...

We visited this cafe twice on a three days visit to the city on April 8th this month. Prices are reasonable and they have the best hot chocolate, according to my son. it was nice walking all over and through the flower market to land on Hoppe. I concur, great Bitterballen and beer plus wifi is available.

We went for an afternoon break while walking around Amsterdam. We had great Bitterballen and sampled the wide selection of beer. Good and friendly service. Decent prices.

Cafe Hoppe is located at Spui Square and is a great watering hole built in the 1600s. Great variety of tap beers. Crowd is a mixture of students, locals and tourists. Friendly place, bartender helped me in my selection of beer by offering samples.

This cafe or I call it a bar, is an old institution, from the 17th century. It is a hole in the wall, dont expect white linen, dirty floor worn down furniture, but the atmosphere is very rare and you can smell the people of old Amsterdam have frequented the place. People have enjoyed the house brand Genever there for...

A very old traditional bar with sawdust (or sand) on the floor. Great place to down a few reasonably priced beers with a great selection. Won't be most peoples first thought of a destination in Amsterdam but worth a visit.

You want to experience Amsterdam? Go here, buy an Amstel Beer (not Heineken served here) look around and talk to your neighbor. Relaxed and traditional atmosphere. I met my wife there 23 years ago......so do not ask me to be objective .
