This attaxtion is in the centre of the city so easy to access. The place has loads of interactive exhibits - use your Guide Book as your access or ask at the desk at how to get the best out of your visit and how you use the interactive attractions - they don:t tell you on the desk and people... By far one of my favorite stops in Amsterdam. It gives a greatly detailed history of how the city was started and how it got to where it is today. While I was there, there was also an exhibition on "mom & pop shops" in Amsterdam - and how they are disappearing - most of this exhibit was in Dutch,... More

Half of this museum is a building site and the other half feels as if it's stuck in a bygone era: many of the interactive exhibits no longer work and there are no large, or especially important, exhibits. Had I not had a museum card, I would have been hugely angry to have paid the €10 entrance fee. More

I would advise spending at least half a day at this museum, as there is so much to see! I had underestimated the size of the museum, and didn't have time to see everything, so was rushing quite a bit and didn't enjoy it properly. It is a really good museum though, well worth a visit for anybody interested in... More

The museum had a fairly large exhibition of various items linked to Amsterdam's history. Most of the items are described in Dutch and in English. There's about twenty rooms in the museum with various themes. I found it rather underwhelming. Navigating through the museum, you find it hard to follow a story line or "red thread". The exhibitions seems to... More

My partner and I only went here because it was included in the Museum Card. However; we enjoyed ourselves as we explored the exhibits stemming from why Amsterdam was founded to its more modern history. Several of the exhibits are interactive and I greatly enjoyed trying to ride the electric car through Ansterdams streets. I would recommend this museum especially... More

My husband and I opted to visit here on our first visit to Amsterdam from the US, on our first day in town. We figured that this would give us some background knowledge of the sights we would be seeing during our visit. We were somewhat disappointed because it gave us no information about Amsterdam's history. It did give us... More

Keep your eyes open for this museum, cause it blends in seamlessly with the other buildings and busy neighborhood its located in. I eventually found 2-different entrances/exits. One is a long corridor with a restaurant and small courtyard found along the way to the entrance and the other is a poorly advertised, modern looking glass doorway found right off the... More

Went here with my Museumkaart; it was a few euros extra for my 8 year old. There is a special exhibit now on Amsterdam's shopkeepers which was interesting for kids. The museum is set up as a walk through the centuries of Amsterdam. It took about 1 1/2 hours to view it all. The 20th century was the best with... More

This museum can be reasonably interesting but it seems that it could be better presented to tell the story of Amsterdam in a more meaningful and coherent way. More
