Maybe I had a bad luck, Vondelpark was being renovated, this central station was completely in scaffoldings, the square in front of it also!! No good feelings there. I didn't see any grand entrance (don't know if there is one) and the rest was small, like underground, low ceillings, and fastfood machines. more
I once stayed at an airport hotel on my trip to Amsterdam so I had to take the train when I'd go to the center. I really like The Centraal Station, especially because trains come so often. Nice station, VERY busy. Beware of pick pockets, be sensible and you will be fine. Information clearly visible and plenty of English visible. Buying tickets is easy, either from the machines or from the ticket offices. Try buying from the machines as we seemed to recieve a discount. Trains to and from the airport are every 10-15 minutes, Far better... more
I would avoid this place unless necessary, its a pickpocket haven. Many crowds of people coming and going, the oblivious would be an easy target. Its a beautiful building but best viewed at a distance. more
