Palace is not open to the public for tours when there is a royal in residence or an official function going on. We unfortunately only saw the outside of the building for this reason. Check the palace website for the monthly calendar of open days.

Situated on the Dam Square, this huge old building was built as the Town Hall for Amsterdam in the years between 1648-55,now was being used for Royal Events, and it was still the residence of the queen when she was in the city.

The Royal Palace on Dam Square has been closed for refurbishment for a long time and that shows: it is in impeccable condition. Recently re-opened for visitors. If available, worth the visit. Beautiful palace, many rooms to see, admission fee comes with an audio guide that is very interesting and informative about each of the rooms. Different than other equivalents visited in Europe.
