The main reason for my visit to the city was a concert held in Carre Theatre. What a magnificent venue! Its location right on the banks of Amstel and the architecture and decor of the building added further anticipation to the event. The staff were most helpful and polite and all the facilities were great. More

I had booked to see a concert from Loreena MKennitt in this theatre, and it was my first time that I was there. It's a lovely old theatre. The interior decorations are quite splendid, and the sound of the accoustics were very good. I am certainly hoping to be attending more concerts here. More

While the building is beautiful, most if not all of the performances there are in Dutch so if you are visiting from another country and do not speak Dutch it may not be worth it to go see a show. Most of the performances are international, or could be enjoyed by the tourists, too But be careful with the selection - sometimes the title is misleading: eg the "Saturday night fever" is completely traslated to Dutch - more funny than enjoyable for the foreigners... Ask the theater in advance about the language! More

It's an old circus theatre which nowadays counts as the place to perform for (inter)national stage artists. Traditional event is the X-mas circus, rest of the year it's mostly famous Dutch performers that hold the stage. New development: musicians that rock the stage. More
