Went with a group of friends who booked this tour - would not have gone on my own. Found it interesting enough, but enjoyed the design and layout of the tour. The scent and flavour tests were fun and it was nice to end the tour with a few cocktails! More

BOLS managed to create an experience around their brand. Interesting history, especially for those who collect KLM houses. Plus a free cocktail at the end. More

Went with a girlfriend while the hubbies had a drink by the canal. Euro 12.50 to get in but that includes a cocktail and two shots of your choice from a long list of liquors. Had a great time in the Aroma room, it's amazing how your nose can kid you some of the time. The bar area is so... More

Their aroma and smelling room was both my wife's and my undoing. We both failed at our attempt to define ingrediants. Prior to our visit, we prided ourselves on the nuances of food and drink. Very humbling but challenging as well.. I am working very hard at developing a better understanding of taste. More

This is perfectly located for a visit after the Museums. The self-guided tour informed us how Genever was the forerunner of gin and all the Bols derivatives. We were able to test our sense of smell by guessing the flavour of the 36 varieties and our tour culminated in the cocktail bar. Again, we booked our 12.50 Euro ticket in... More

It was fun smelling all the different flavours - all 30 of them. Best part of it was the cocktail and the 2 shots. Cocktail was great!!! We bought more cocktails afterwards... Value for money. Notice how I haven't commented on the exhibits that was there? For us what lingers afterwards is taste of the drinks and not much of... More

We were going to try the Van Gogh museum but foolishly tried to go late morning which was pointless ! As such we decided to go into House of Bols, which is directly opposite. I have used Bols on numerous occasions but never know they hailed from Amsterdam. The tour costs Euro 12.50 per person but includes one cocktail and... More

The House of Bols is a museum experience tracing the history of alcoholic beverages from the days of Dutch trading through the present, featuring in particular the history of jenever, a juniper flavored drink converted by the English into what we call gin. Also it features the illustrations of the various cordials made or marketed by Bols, and stations to... More

Had no plans to visit but the Van Gough museum had queues down the street and around the corner. The bols museum is just opposite so being curious we headed over - beats standing in a queue in the rain. Great tour giving history of Bols and good examples of how all the senses can be involved in 'taste' plus... More
