This church is an amazing building with a ceiling taller than anything you are likely to see anywhere. Have a look at the organ, an overly decorated baroque 30 meter high instrument dominating the back of the church. It was being tuned when we visited and it was almost painful to hear the squeaking high notes one at a time.... More

This famous church is huge and beautiful. The architecture is northern gothic, and it has one of the world's most famous organs, once played by Handel and Mozart. Someone was practicing when we were there - a treat that added to the lovely and historic building. The rest of the town is also lovely - much of the center is... More

A gentle lesson in the human religious condition: you can take your choice among the "pillar biters," the mad hounds in a side chapel, and the reformers who kept the best piece of furniture: the 5,000 pipe organ! More

Haarlem--- another short day trip we took while visiting The Netherlands. Haarlen is a wonderful town--great to walk around and see wonderful architecture, window shopping and eating. Sint -Bavokerk was located at town square---it was a beautiful church-a former Catholic cathedral. To sit and listen to the organ was such a peaceful, lovely time---time stopped and all was right with... More

This Christian Muller organ was played by Mozart, and Handel, and many more famous organists since. The local organist was practicing while we were there and invited us up to view it. What an opportunity. Then he played that Bach's Tocatta and Fugue, just like that! I had walked down the isle to that one so we said 'I do'... More

2.50 eur per person, kids free. Typical cathedral; main attractions or unique features - wood-covered ceiling; the famous organ; the fascinating blue stone 2m x 1m floor slabs. No chairs during our visit, so you got a great sense of the space. Also the excellent stained glass artwork. More
