This church dates back to 1064, when it started as a small wooden chapel.
In 1457 fire destroyed a great deal and the events that fueled the rebuilding are fascinating.
It also has 2 beautiful organs and a carillon that is actively being played.
Outside these historic events, it was a very important church during the Reformation in Holland.

If you are in Dordrecht you should try to visit the Grote Kerk. It was never finished due to the sagging. There are many interesting historic stories about this church and it is beautiful inside. It origin started in the 11th century

A fantastic church built around the mid 11th century,with a huge tower and stone columns supporting the roof .said to be one of the most important Gothic churches in Holland .Its a photograhers dream , with natural light entering via the huge windows.The organ has been restored to its former glory and plays most days .The sound quality is superb...
