The enclosed garden is not very special. But it's a nice place to have a coffee or tee.... assuming that you're there anyway. A pity really because the hortus has some potential. NOT worth a visit. I would highly recommend the Artis Zoo. Very nearby and truly nice! More

Last year I visited Leiden with my dad who was born in this very interesting historical city that has a lot to offer. One of his favorites is the Hortus Botanicus, located in the center. And I love it too, every time I am walking in the Hortus Botanicus (famous for its Victoria Regina) I enjoy the silence. It has... More

So informative and helpful. This garden is part of the University and provided a perfect setting to our discovery and understanding of plantlife. More

An oasis of green and quiet in the center of Leiden, along the Singel, the beautiful canal which encircles the old town. Worth visiting for a peaceful walk or for reading in a silent place, surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers and with a view on old stunning typical Dutch houses. More

Even in mid-winter, the grounds were beautiful. Really enjoyed the walk-through, and the early spring flowers on view (mostly snow drops but still...) Indoors many of the plants were dormant, but the many orchids added a splash of colour. The cafe serves a great hot apple drink and has many delicious baked goods. Lunch is also a possibility. More

Quite big collection of plants on relatively small place. The Garden consist of a few greenhouses with excellent collection of carnivores plants and the others. The garden is the most beautiful in the spring with huge, very, very old wistarias blooming. More
