And you will understand why it is not rare to see the swans on the canals and the rabbits in the parks. More

To get to the museum, you have to cross a bridge in which are models of a family of rhinoceroses. When you get to the first hall, you see a mass of stuffed and preserved animals and plants showing the diversity of life. Our children loved looking at the animals, touching the little dog, seeing the octopus through the floor,... More

The museum is well laid out and has plenty of informative descriptions. The staff were friendly and the exhibits were worth seeing. More

The offset of collection is really great, so informative and also artistic. We're so lucky to see the real collection inside the collection rooms in a modern collection building at the back of the displays hall. The only weird thing is the main entrance, which have to go to another building and then pass the bridge crossing the street and... More

Excellent exhibitions. Walking distance from Leiden Centraal. Really nice treat in November 2009 when chorale groups and musicians were invited to perform at different rooms of the museum. Truly a neat way to spend the weekend!!!! More

Probably the best showcase of evolution out there. Manages to show the incredible diversity of life yet at the same time show what links all of it together. Combine with one of the other Leiden museums (Boerhaave for Science, RMO for archaeology etc) for an educational and fun day trip. More

Where a lot of museums of natural history tend to be a bit damp or old-fashioned, Naturalis shows how things can be done differently. It is perfectly designed, providing a very open and friendly atmosphere and all exibits on displayed are is a great shape and because of the setup all items can be watched up close without having to... Naturalis is an excellent place to spend a entertaining day. Lots to see and learn about biology, evolution and geology. Been there three times with the family, never a dull moment. Lots to see and touch for kids. Most of it in Dutch, though. Excellent bookstore. Adequate catering. Parking close by at reasonable cost. More
