The zoo itself was a little hard to find, due to the facade of a restaurant which makes you think that the zoo is not there. However, the restaurant is part of the zoo; and beside it is the entranceway. This is a must-do when visiting Antwerp! Not only are the animal exhibits fascinating, but the walk between them is very lively, with beautiful gardens and buildings. I visited the zoo yesterday. There are really lovely old buildings and the grounds are beautiful. The atmosphere was good- lots of excited children, but....being an animal lover I came away very depressed. There is definately not enough space, the animals are absolutely cramped. I couldn't look at the elephants as they were abviously stressed- just moving back and forwards.... more
