The building in the Grand Place were amazing with the amount of detail. The whole site looks amazing (and the nearby shopping was't bad either!!) more

The grand place is a beautiful square with stunning architetural details... It's worth going to see it and taking a moment to observe all the details and stone work, but don't make this your main attraction. We were there in July and there was tourists everywhere. **The square is also nice to look at at night more

Wonderful place. Required place for all of those who are visiting Brussels. Try to get a walking of biking tour to learn about the very interesting things of these buildings. DO NOT use Golden Tours Hop on Hop off Bus. Use the red or blue one instead. The city hall and the all the buildings around the square are outstanding.... more

The Grand Place is certainly something to see. We were fortunate that we arrived on the square in the midst of a beautiful sunny afternoon, with the light glinting off the gilded halls. The history and architecture are impressive, as is the overall effect of the place. We stopped and had lunch at Le Roy D'Espagne, in the old bakers'... more

Grand Place-Grote Markt or just plainly Large Square, was bombarded in 1695 by Louis XIV (French) and completely destroyed (except for Hôtel de Ville, the Town Hall). It was rebuilt in less than five years in even more grandeur with help from the Guilds wanting to show off their houses around the square. Today most include somewhat expensive but necessary... more

The Grand Place is huge and surrounded by several massive buildings. Alot of work has gone into their construction with beautiful facades, statues and even a gargoyle from one corner. The ground is made of small cobbled stones. Two blocks from here is the well known Mannekin Pis statue (he was naked) which is a tourist hit. The Museum of... more

Having been to many of the great town squares I know of in the world, and I'd say that the Grand Place is the most striking by far. We saw it in the day, at night, in the rain, in the sun, and each setting lent its own extra element to it, but all were glorious and a visual feast.... more

I have been with my wife a few years back while we were staying in Belgium and the Grand-Place (or Grote Markt in Dutch) square was a must see for my mother on our way back to England from Amsterdam. The overall square in terms of size is almost on a par with St Marks square in Venice. While all... more

The Grand Place is a tad on the small side, if you compare it to sqaures such as those found in Prague or Venice. Summer is not the best time to visit as they hold the Summer Festivals which block the view to sights on the square. So instead of seeing great architecture, all you see is a massive stage... more
