Brussels is full of Catholic churches of all architectural styles with this as one of the long list. Eglise Notre-Dame de la Chapelle is a large structure in downtown. Beware that opening hour is pretty short for this.

Went away from the crowds in the centre on a Sunday, when arrived the doors were open and started to look around only to be told by a very rude individual that the church was not open. Did not spend much time in here and the rudeness of the staff put us off

Eglise Note Dame De La Chapelle (The Church Of Our Lady Of The Chapelle) is situated upon Place de la Chapelle and is open from 10am to 6pm daily. The church dates back to the 12th-century and mainly features early Romanesque and Gothic features added during the 15th-century. There is also a Baroque style tower that was added after the French bombardment in the late 17th-century. Notably, this is where Flemish Old Master Pieter Bruegel the Elder is buried.

In addition to an impressive exterior, there are a couple monuments outside the church worth having a look-see. These include the recent tribute statue and plaque to Bruegel as well as a replica obelisk fountain that resembles the 18th-century monument that once rested on the old church grounds before they were converted into a public square in the 1820s.

There are interesting things to see within the church as well including fresco paintings, stained-glass windows, delicately carved wooden pulpit and confessionals, Baroque side altars and other items of religious worship. The main altar and apse are nicely ornamented while the nave offers statue lined columns. Overall, it is a nice church, worth 10-15 minutes to explore if you are interested in historic churches and enjoy seeing them during your travels.

Eglise Note Dame De La Chapelle ( The Church Of Our Lady Of The Chapelle ) is one of the most recognisable landmark structures in the Quartier Marolles .
This church dates from the 13th century ,one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in Brussels ,during the War Of The Grand Alliance a French Army of 70.000 troops bore down on Brussels in 1695 ,the church was badly damaged but repaired in 1866 and again in 1989 ,it's a fabulous looking church ,very historic, very photogenic and is the centrepiece of Place De La Chapelle ,it's most definitely a church I highly recommend you check out if you're planning on visiting Brussels .

The church looks lovely from the outside, but unfortunately it was closed (when I visited it during its opening hours), so I was only to admire its exteriors, which were nice.

A nice, not great, church with a pretty altar. Despite what is posted online, the church does not open until 10 am.

Popped into this large imposing church one afternoon. It is pretty large and a little underwhelming to be honest. There were plenty of old paintings in each alcove along both sides but rather than being uplifting felt more like faded glory. Some nice stained glass windows lifted the spirit a little.

The Church Of Our Lady Of The Chapel ( Église Notre Dame De La Chapelle ) is a beautiful church that if your in the Marolles district your sure to view.
This beautiful church dates from the 13th century, a great example of Gothic architecture, when the French army numbering 70.000 bore down on Brussels in 1695 in the War of the Grand Alliance the church was damaged as the city was bombarded ,restored in 1866 and again 1989 to give us a really grand piece of architecture.
We were wandering around this part of town and I couldn't resist taking a few photos, never ventured into the church but on my next holiday to Brussels will most certainly check it out.
Easy to locate on Place De La Chapelle and most definitely well worth checking out.

We literally stumbled upon this church while walking around Brussels. We did not manage to get inside as it was an inappropriate time, unfortunately, but the building looks so imposing. We did manage to have a little look through a small opening and it seemed quite magnificent. It's worth visiting if you are near this area.
