It is to Brussels what South Ken is to London. Some very exclusive shops (mainly clothes), many of them independent. Great for window shopping and lunch just off one of the side roads between Louise roundabout and Place Stephanie.

Some of the best, high-end shops in the city are found in this street. Well connected via Metro and Tram routes, this is an easy place to get to. Also, about a 20 minute scenic walk from here to the Grand Place passes by great architecture, chocolate shops and delis.

However divided by the tunnels this street is wasting may of its commercial potential. But cars seam to be more important... what a pity!

When you want to do some 'bit more expensive' shopping, the place to be. Although, you can find Zara, Inno, etc... Nearby very good restaurants.
Want to do some serious expensive shopping... one place... Avenue Waterloo.

Avenue Louise is the main shopping street in Brussels. You will find high end brands as well as shops like Zara and the Belgium departmentstore "Innovation". There are plenty of good restaurants and bars on the side streets. And not least important women can feel safe in this area of Brussel.

Good names coming more and more to the area, but Belgium can do much better than that. Still a must go.

If you love upmarket shopping prepare to be disapointed. The street is average looking and it really doesn't match up on a world scale to the famous shopping streets in London, Berlin, Melbourne or even Antwerp.
More
The first part of Avenue Louise has an impressive concentration of boutiques, mainly fashion, of the most reputed brands.
The rest of this long, elegant boulevard with trees has high standing expensive appartment houses.
At the very end of the avenue, you will find Bois de la Cambre, an ideal place for walks or picnic on sunny days.

I stay in this area often when I visit Brussels. There are a couple nice pedestrian-only streets with many outdoor cafes and restaurants, good hotel choices nearby, and an excellent Morrocan restaurant and Thai restaurants within easy walking distance. Plus the Louise metro stop gives you excellent access to the Grand Platz and the Expo center.
