Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can find here all mainstream brands and discounters together with lots of local ambiance. There are some fast food retailers (MC Donalds, Burger King) and nearby is the cinema and the Apple store (Toison d'Or). If you do not shop down town than up town can offer about the same experience.

Chaussee D'Ixelles is a really poor area of Brussels, full of low end retail outlets and even lower end fast food joints,it's a rough and ready district and one that is not to rewarding to visit.
I am so surprised that this area has not been looked at by the local authorities as it's shady at best,it's not a no go area but it could become one soon.

The chaussée Ixelles is an overcrowded street with the standard shops you can find anywhere. the only difference here is you can break your neck on the sidewalk while shopping. you have to push your way through to mzany people, who are never in a hurry. if you do this street by car, be carefull not to run over someone that decides to cross the street. the only up side to this place: you can miss you buss the first stop but still catch it at the next one :-)

The other reviewers have said most of it - it's rough and unattractive and not a tempting location to spend money, but it does have lots of second and third and fourth rate shops - and some even lower on the food-chain. Yes. No high heels for this street - the paving is terrible. And yes, as another review stated, it does appear to be in a third world country.

This is one of the most disgraceful streets in Brussels. The half torn-up pavements would go down well in provincial Russia. Shops and building are trashy. One of the reasons why the Ixelles governors should be sacked and, ideally, sent off to the remote island in the north Sea.

There are two shopping streets in Brussels where products are second class : rue Neuve downtown and Chaussee d'Ixelles in the upper part of town.
Unless you are looking for something cheap, don't go there.
For quality shopping, take the seveal galleries on Avenue de la Toison d'Or. This avenue crosses this chaussee.
Even better walk a bit further and you will be avenue Louise. There, you will find very fine boutiques.

This street is rather narroe and it offers some high street shopping on both its sides. Car traffic is allowed in both directions and it is almost always a continuous queue of vehicles, which makes it for an uncomfortable shopping experience. Besides, the pavements are in poor conditions and also very crowded. Walking around often turns into an exercise in avoiding traffic and holes.
