I hadn't heard of Jacques Brel before, but my friend had and it sounded an interesting place. It's about his relationship with Brussels more than his life, which was clearly explained to us so we knew what it would be like. The staff were really helpful. The attraction itself though was a bit bizarre. You sat in the foyer to... More

I love Brel´s music/lyrics and had wanted to visit the "Fondation" for some time. One needs to set aside an hour since you need to follow a circuit that covers his life and career. As I´m not that interested in every aspect of his life, it is a bit tedious to be forced to wait 10 minutes for a screening... More

This is a really eccentric little place - more of a personal 'hommage' to the great man, rather than a museum about him. The focus is on evoking his life and creative influences, using mocked-up tableaux meant to represent e.g. the flat where his family lived when he was growing up. There is also a smattering of Brel memorabilia, including... More

friendly down-to-earth reception in different languages. good explanation about the tour. good map, audio map. lots of funny details about the life of jacques Brel. with 5€ entrance fee not an expensive museum. 1,5hours tour. advice : make sure you listened to all (5) introduction chapters before entering the real museum. first room with 'screens' is not audioguided. Took my two children to the Fondation Jacques Brel yesterday and was rather bemused by the experience. It cost 5€ a ticket and involved an audio headset that you moved on track by track yourself (rather than being activated by exhibits) which consisted mainly of the voice of Brel's daughter. After sitting on a bench in the reception, listening to... More
