Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This may be a better experience for someone who isn’t familiar with Judaism. The small holocaust section was very interesting

Incredible disappointment. Went here expecting to learn the obvious.. the history of the Jewish people in this region. Absolutely nothing zero! Artwork from Jews and some artifacts and symbols of Jewish home life! Really sad!

This museum is a little expensive but actually worth a visit
The exhibits are well laid out with lots of signposts explaining each one. There are cards on each floor for most of the major languages.
It is a very thought-provoking place, the atmosphere fits the exhibit.
There is tight security here and you do need to leave your bags in a locker but this is free of charge

Wherever I go, I visit the local Jewish Museum and s Synagogue. This one sounded promising. Definitely not worth 8 EU. Not worth the time if it is free. The permanent exhibit contains very little. Some simple very basic description of Jewish holidays. There is a special exhibit about Moroccan Jews. Some photos. Some costumes. A few musical instruments and artifacts. I learned nothing! There is a special exhibit about a local artist. HORRIBLE WORKS!!!! The only thing of interest about him is that he was murdered at age 25 trying to steal a Modigliani painting. The most notable thing about this museum is that there was a terrorist stack here in 2024 when 4 people were killed.

The museum is small and in the process of expansion. The main rooms shows a selection of well chosen and often moving artefacts to tell the story of the Belgium's Jewish community- photos of the community from the little synagogue of Maakberk, a US army Chaplain's Shabbath box, scrolls and a 'dolls house' model of the Antwerp synagogue. Upstairs was an interesting selection of art work by Jewish Belgium artist and across the courtyard a photo exhibition by the photojournalist Leonard Freed. Everything was clearly labelled in French, Dutch and English.

Don't go expecting an explanation of the Holocaust or a full history for Belgium Jewry, but do go for an insight to a living European community past and present.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The security is naturally tight and you need to leave your bags in a locker (no charge).

We finally had time to visit this museum. We were really excited.
We wanted to learn about the Jewish culture (and not again about the horrible part during WW2).
We learned almost nothing. The museum is really small (3little rooms).
Luckily we were on first Sunday of the month so it was free.
Pass your way!!!!!!!

I thought I may discover something about the Jewish peoples. perhaps something about their plight during the second World War but no.
There was an Amy Winehouse exhibition on which I was keen to see but turned out to be little more than a handful of fridge magnets she used to own and a few family photos. I think I know more about her life and music than the museum does. There was also some weird knitted animal sort of exhibition going on which, as far as I can tell, has little if anything to do with anything Jewish.
The member of staff on the door was surly and unwelcoming.
That was it! Amy Winehouse and some knitted animals. Half an hour of my life I'll never get back along with the extortionate €10 entrance fee.

We were there this morning. The entrance fee is 10 Euro and the personnel was not friendly at all. But the worst was that we didn't find anything about the history of the Jews in Belgium. The whole Museum, which is small, is about migration and foreigners coming to live in Belgium in the last 200 years (including Jews). We have been to many Jewish museums around the world. Nothing as disappointing as this. We felt cheated.
