Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We happened upon a free exhibition on the ground floor of the BELvue Museum and were glad we did. It brings together forty Art Nouveau objects from the collection of the Belgian King Baudouin Foundation by famous artists such as Victor Horta, Henry Van de Velde, and Philippe Wolfers. We loved the striking and intricate pendants designed by jeweller Philippe Wolfers. The exhibition lasts until 7 January 2024, and is particularly well documented. There is an audio guide in English, French, and Dutch and a free paper catalogue in French and Dutch. The website of the Foundation provides a free tour and extensive descriptions of the exhibits.

Gives a great overview of the history of Belgium and it's people, and well as the struggles of its people to unify into one country. Parts of the museum were on the boring side but on the most part it was accessible, engaging, and informative.

The museum was quite complete on the history and society of Belgium. Particularly if you don't know already quite a bit about the country it is interesting. I was very disappointing though that there was not a single critical word about the history of King Leopold II in Congo. The museum only mentions some "achievements", such as the construction of a railroad in Congo (where they don't mention the many deaths due to inhuman behaviour). So my advise: keep up with your time

Another Top-5 Must for visitors to Brussels. A charming, informative, entertaining, eye-opening, and sobering introduction to Belgian history. I found the guide book and exhibits so interesting, I took my time and spent several hours absorbing the information, visuals, and objects.

Wonderful models, posters, pamphlets, pie-charts, film, samples, and interactive stations abound, but the museum is relatively small--seven main rooms on two floors--which keeps the experience moving and not at all overwhelming.

Well laid out both historically and thematically.

A really informative and worthwhile experience. Learning more about The Belgian Royal family and Belgium’s history also was a treat. A rewarding and wonderful tour and so close to the palace also.

The museum has an excellent summary of Belgian history. It is informative and easy to follow. It covers various aspects of the country's history, including religion, language and political structure.

The Belvue museum gathers together a unique selection of artifacts guiding you through Brussels history and celebrating the diversity of culture, and the amazing historic timeline of how Brussels expanded throughout the middle ages right through to the present day.

We arrived a bit late in the day (the museum was VERY quiet) but we still had plenty of time to explore all that the museum had to offer. Again this is a museum that is free to enter with your Brussels Card. Once inside you'll find lots to look at and for us Brits, a lot that will make you very sad about the fact that we (idiotically) left the EU.

Super-friendly staff, and one of several attractions on the same site (look out for our review of the Goudenberg which is just underneath the Belvue and also well worth a visit)

Was set up really nicely to guide me, someone wholly unfamiliar with Belgium, through Belgian independence and events as a modern state. The museum is divided into different themes, which is really useful for seeing how Belgium developed along different axes. Does not have much in the way of artifacts, most of the exhibits are text, printed posters, sample objects, or written letters - but I don't think the museum needed it, plus it's a great double feature with the Coudenberg Palace ruins. Overall I spent about an hour in the museum.

Interesting summary. Not a huge amount to see but a great presentation of the timelines with various items. Interactive & bright displays would be great for kids.
Staff member was very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.
Additional booklet also provided with more detailed descriptions in English.

There's exhibits on the development of democracy in Belgium, the history of the city, migration, and some contemporary pieces thrown in.
It's quite interesting and has a lot of history to show off.
