Worthwhile going to see as it is a large old market hall. Very picturesque from the outside. Inside is a little disappointing, eating area at one end and an enclosed shop at the other.
this was close to our hotel & was a small but perfectly formed local brewery where the vats are in the room where you can sample the beers. A lovely setting & there is a great painting on the wall.
I believe they serve lunches, but we have never eaten here. However, every time we come to Ghent with friends, we walk through to see the hanging hams and take a look at all the local foods/beverages available for purchase. The building is beautiful - inside isn't anything special, but worth a walk through.
The hams hanging from the beautiful ceiling are produced in Ghent. Other local products, like Tierenteyn Musterd and "Uufflakke", can be purchased in the shop or savoured in the restaurant. The best view on this magnificent building can be had from the tourist office in the old Fishmine, on the other side of the canal.
the outside of this building is really old and interesting to look at, however, inside, with several shops for local products, seemed a little bit too commercial for me...
