Lots of beguinages in the Low Countries by the sea, but this must be the largest one that still breathes the atmosphere of ancient times. No cars, lots of cobstones, small roads, some hundred houses, a peaceful meadow in the center, a baroque church. A hidden village where tourists don't come, although it's Unesco World Heritage.

People ask me where you can find places which exhale tranquility. This beguinage is the excellent place to stroll through the cobblestone streets, read a book on a bench or lay on the green pasture. This beguinage was founded in 1234, but most buildings are from the 17th century.
