There is absolutely nothing that can be seen, read or learnt in this museum that you couldn't also see, read or learn by googling "frites" and "history of the potato") on the internet. Tasting the frites isn't even included in the price of admission (which was 6 euros, five if you have a discount card from your hotel); they give... More

Probably the best museum in the world!! Dedicated to the humble potato and how it metamorphosed into the humble chip! Absolutely worth a visit and allow a good 45 minutes including the chips or Friets which you must have at the end of the trip. More

Only in Belgium would there be a frites museum, because as this museum takes pains to point out, "french fries" is a misnomer. Chips are Belgian. The museum is considerably larger - and more serious - than one might have expected, and my partner and I know now know considerably more about potatoes in general, and fried potatoes in particular,... First floor is wall to wall words about potatoes - meh. Upstairs there are old deep fat friers and some pretty lame stories "Some people say fries are from France but actually some people think they are from America", Not word for word - or even close maybe! I just didn't care, even though I'm passionate about fries :) I... More

This was an interesting history of the potatoes. The story didn't get really good until it got to the modern time of fry making. The staff here was lovely. We brought our pug with us and they gladly let us in with her. The cost was inexpensive and it even gave you a discount at the fry restaurant at the... More

This gives you the complete history of fries. Then you are able to go down to the cafe an buy some friets with your discount voucher. You can also buy a combined ticket to see the chocolate museum as well. More

I have recently returned from a wonderful weekend in Bruges, a place I would recommend to anyone. The lowlight was a museum about french fries. I am glad I was not paying for this museum (entry included in the city card) as I would have been demanding my money back at the end. A floor dedicated to potatoes, another to... More

Along with the beer and chocolate museums in Bruges, this completes the 3 things Belgium is most famous for. The chip museum is small, unusual and interesting, following the progress of the potato from it's origins in South America to the chip pans of Belgium. It starts with the potato itself, the different varieties and how it found it's way... More

Definitely try some belgian fries while you are out here, but this is not the place to get them. The museum is just a waste of time, only went because it was included with bruges city card. Fries they sold were decent; but nothing special or worth the time/money More

We were pleasantly surprised by this museum, having no previous knowledge of the origins of the humble potato. Beware, though, the advertisements mention that visitors will taste the fries at the end, but do not mention that you have to buy them! There is a 40 cent discount coupon given at the entrance. Best fries we ate all weekend. More
