Brugges is a very small town in Belgium. This was my first visit although my wife had gone before. We drove from London. I am quite used to foreign roads so had no problem getting around. Although we had a map of the town we found ourselves driving round and round trying to find the center. We asked a parking... More

We went on the day tour as part of our Viking River boat cruise. We simply feel in love with the artistic feel of the city and the shopping experiences. It seems that every block has at least one chocolate shop and we bought lots to bring home and taste. The "on the street" Belgium waffle vendors and the fry... More

This is a beautiful medival city. Most people get around on foot as there are many narrow streets. Look out for the bicycles and horse drawn carriages--they have the right of way instead of pedestrians. Expect to spend a day and take your time. You will do a lot of walking. More

We are not alchoholics:) But staying in London we decided to visit Bruges which we knew as "the capital of beer". We got Bruges railway station by Thalys and looking at the simple and common station we couldn't imagine what a nice town real old Bruges was!!!There a lot of picturesque buildings, canals with swans and man, many beer houses! We started... We stayed at a Hostel a short walk from the Old Town and within walking distance of the Railway Station. The Old Town is absolutely stunning. We visited the Information Centre and picked up a self guided walking tour booklet. This turned out to be a really good way to see the place and we definitely got to see more... More

The fascination of Brugge is found in its historical, glorious building. The city's major attractions are compressed into an area which conveniently walkable. Two major attractions are Markt where three architectures are; Belfort, Provincial government palace and Guildhouse. Another place is Burg square which is sorrounded by three buildings; Basilica of the Holy Blood, Town Hall, and Old Recorder's House.... More

Memory of Bruges and Brussels in 1954 made a return visit very exciting. Invitation by fellow cruisers on 'Celebrity Eclipse' (2009) found us in Oostkamp, only seven kilometers from Bruges, in June 2011. We made three daily visits into Bruges, enjoying walks, horse and carriage and, of course, the canal boats. Bruges is beautiful, medieval, unspoiled and will not disappoint.... More
