We were on a NCL cruise, and Cha Porto Formoso Tea Plantation was one of the excursions available. It was wonderful! The drive up to where the tea is grown is just beautiful, and we were able to sample the different teas, along with some delightful cookies, all complimentary. I think this is a much nicer tea plantation to visit than the larger and better-known Gorreana Tea Plantation where the tourist buses go. It‘s by the side of the main road along the north coast, between the exits for Porto Formoso & Maia. Look for the building with a large teapot hanging outside. There’s parking off the road. The... The guide to the Tea plantation was very friendly. There was a short movie in English explaining the background. The lady at the plantation then showed us the machinery and how the process worked. We were then treated to some of their tea and they had some for sale at a very, very reasonable price. The grounds are extremely beautiful... More
