Amazing machinery and helpful tour of the process of tea production. The plantation is now experimenting with making artisanal ice creams with local organic ingredients - wonderful flavours and excellent value. We went back four times. More

A visit to the Gorreana Chá pantation and processing plant is throw back to a time in history, when "organic" tea production was started in the 19th century in the island of São Miguel. Of the some two dozen plantations that existed, Gorreana is one of the last two remaining. It is worthwhile to visit to see the processing done,... More

This is a nice Tea factory. You can appreciate all steps of the process. You can see how they do it and all the machinery required for each step of the process. I found this place to be in a very raw state. Which it can be seen as good or bad. Depends on what your looking for your point... More

This is the only tea plantations in Europe and the tea is very good. There are two differente houses (Gorreana and Porto Formoso) and in both you can have a small tour who tells you how the tea is made and offer some samples to drink. More

One of only 2 tea plantations in Europe producing green and black teas. The free tour of the working factory is interesting enough and by the end of it you almost feel obliged to buy the produce! It's no cheaper than you will find in the local supermarkets but you don't get to sit down and enjoy a free cuppa... More

I enjoyed my tour of the tea factory. All the teas smelt so good and was so nice seeing machines on display that date back to the 1840's. I just enjoyed a cup of free black tea in their tea room and watched the sunset over the ocean. So beautiful. It is an amazing place to visit with all the... More
