The monastery was impressive and spectacular from the outside. The inside was best enjoyed in a sunny day when the light entered through the stained-glass windows. The unfinished chapels were special too. Definitely worth a visit! More

the road from the motorway to batalha is a pain but boy when you turn into the town what a marvellous sight. The Gothic monastery is spectacular both inside and out.
