I loved this little museum full of coaches used in Portugal's monarchist past, including the the amazing restored coach used as part of a Papal Embassy, and the coach used by Queen Elizabeth II on a state visit in the 1950s. I made two trips to Lisbon specifically to see the stirrups in the Coach Museum to find them unavailable. The first visit was at a time when the museum was in temporary quarters. The second time was April 7th,2005. We saw a wonderful exhibit of the coaches but were not allowed into the rooms where the stirrups are on display. more
