We weren't huge Port drinkers before visiting the Port Wine Institute but will definitely be trying more now. Okay it's a bit quiet for everybody's tastes but, as a place to drink a fantastic range of Ports, at very reasonable prices and to learn about the drink, in a relaxing atmosphere, it was great. We visited twice so that we...

I didn't drink port before and I thought I didn't like it, but after tasting those fine samples I've changed my mind. All samples were great, even the least expensive (1.50 Euro per glass). Everything was fine except the unfriendly service (already mentioned by other reviewers), but it didn't matter. A very pleasant atmosphere and nice people (tourists) around make...

This wine tasting institute is located in a beatiful locale. Try different port brands and read about them too. It makes it fun and enjoyable to drink the port at home later on!

Close to the upper station of Elevador da Gloria in the old house there is that place, where you can learn all about Porto. From 2pm you can sit in the easy chair, sip the wine and listen to good music.

We tried...

If you like port wines this is somewhere really not to be missed. Nowhere else that I know of will you find so large a selection of port wines to be tasted by the glass (or bottle, if you prefer). They are very reasonably priced, so you can spend anything from a couple of euro up to a small fortune,...

The Port Wine House has hundreds, maybe thousands of different kinds of ports, nicely divided up on their menu by types and by age. They have dozens of different kinds of port by the glass for as little as 1-1/2 Euros, and some that cost over 20 euros per glass. The wait staff is reasonably helpful, but didn't speak a...

Appears to be excellently stocked with all kinds of ports, and the bartender also appears very knowledgeable. As a connoisseur, he showed little patience with trying to sample the simpler/cheaper types of port (i.e. those younger than 10 years) but opened up when we reached the richer varieties -- or tried to, since his English was almost as limited as...

If you are interested in tasting and learning about Port Wines in an elegant and educational environment, this is the spot!! Our waiter, Robert - from Romania, an English speaking, well informed, good looking young man, assured we had a full range of port to sample and then helped us to hone in on our particular port taste desire. He...
