It also looks quite a bit like San Francisco's famed "Golden Gate Bridge," though this one was named after the revolution. « less

the 25th april bridge is an impressive structure and when looking at it from central lisbon, it's hard to appreciate the scale of it. however we first got a closer look when on the tram to belem - we passed under it and could see how high it was! also when we visited evora we crossed the bridge which afforded... A ribbon of red looped across a blue sky - beautiful! Also you get a birds eye view down onto the rooftops and courtyards of Lisbon on one side and a good view of the huge statue of Christ on the other. More

The bridge was built almost 50 years ago and has a political/hostorical conotation to it, especially due to its naming. That aside, it is the primary means of getting to the other side of the river Tagus. Very much used by people that want to get to the Caparica beaches. There is an unfortunate toll that must be paid, but... More

Compared to other bridges in the world this is quite uninteresting. Also, you can't walk across it. You can drive over and drive back, but really there are better places to see Lisbon from. More

A truly breathtaking view of the Ponte 25 de Abril is possible from the Cristo Rei monument. It is our version of the Golden Gate Bridge :) More

Well, it's a bridge and it looks great with more than a passing resemblance to the Golden Gate. You can view it from many parts of the city inlcuding the Castelo Sao Jorge and also from Belem More

Ponte 25 de Abril is one of the best things in Lisbon! It`s one of the 7 miracles in my opinion! You can`t miss it if you visit Portugal! The bridge is 3300m long, it`s not pedestian, you should use a car to cross it. I also advise to use ferry from Cais do Sodre station and to cross Tejo... More
