The ticket office has a sign advising visitors that groups of more than 50 are not allowed. What it does not tell you is that many of the rooms will not accommodate even 20 people, comfortably. This was the only palace I visited on my short visit to Portugal, but I really enjoyed it. Each room in the interior is beautifully-decorated either with tiles or painted walls or - in the case of the 'Coat of Arms room' - with wood and coats of arms. There are quite a few amazing things to see in Sintra, so see this place first. It's an interesting and fun place to explore, but won't amaze you like the quinta de regaleira or pena palace.
