This is (I think) the oldest of the many castles we visited in Sintra, with centuries of history as the castle passed from the Moors to the Portuguese, to the Jewish community (and even the Spanish, perhaps?). Although not hugely extensive, the walk along the castle walls is full of history and has incredible views down onto Quinta da Regaleira... More

The views from the top of this castle overlooking the beautiful town of Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean are unbeatable. I've climbed to the peaks of many sites throughout Europe and North America and I cannot think of a more breath-taking view than that from the Moorish Castle. I am somewhat afraid of heights but am very glad that I... More

Built between two mountain tops, it offers incredible views of the countryside from Sintra to the sea. Vertiginous cliffs and steep footpaths. More

Very interesting although a lot of restoration work is being done in the Castle and parts are closed although they don't warn you about it before you buy a ticket. There are joint tickets available and well worth checking out the options if you are visiting other sites. More

Very nice views but be prepated for a hike. There are some trails that lead to the castle ruins (only portions remain). The park itself is huge and you could spend quite some time there if you view the whole thing or you can just focus on one area. More
