This living cultural institution in the heart of Athens houses the collection of Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris; more than 3.000 objects of Cycladic, Ancient Greek and Cypriot art (dating from the 5th millennium BC to the 6th century AD) are displayed in the galleries of the four floors of the Museum of Cycladic Art. The Museum owns one of the most important collections of Cycladic Art worldwide and hosts major archaeological, modern and contemporary art exhibitions. With the aim of communicating with the general public, it organizes temporary exhibitions –devoted to archaeology, modern and contemporary art – educational programs, creative activities for children and families, lectures, one-day conferences and seminars. Its permanent collections are promoted by occasional reinstallations and academic publications. « less

It s a nice museum plagued by the bad quality of services in Greece. The collection is very interesting but it gets repetitive at a certain point. The cafeteria is pleasant but very limited. More

If you like modure art then this museum is for you. We saw a dislay of a cloak room; shoes; sunglasses on the floor. The building the art was in is exptional. They did have some old stuff also, but the modern art really affected me. More

We really enjoyed this place - more so that the National Archaeological Museum. It had been recommended by some Greek friends of ours, and we were not disappointed. Entry was reasonable, and they use a story-telling approach to get you through the exhibitions, which is useful to those a bit more rusty on the history. It was also much quieter... More

We're in Athens at least once a year, and visit every time. Need we say more? The fourth floor was recently re-done, and that made it even better. One of the best museum shops in Athens. Don't miss the restaurant! More

In this museum, the great wonders of cycladic culture are on the worst displayed floor. Other floors have more relevant easier to follow exhibitions. However, Please tell someone that museums are not sacred places where talking is not allowed. SHHHHHHing really got on hour nerves and we finally felt that we were specifically followed by the guards like we were... More

Fascinating collection - we spent hours looking around and sometimes had whole rooms to ourselves - not crowded at all. The only downer was the staff were really unfriendly! But definitely worth a trip, and the day we went it was half price too. More

The Museum of Cycladic Art is a private museum that knows what a good museum should look like, but just can't quite make it to world class. The core of the museum is its collection of Cycladic marble vases and figures, the finest such in the world. The problm is that virtually all were looted and sold to the museum's... More

Apart from the permanent collection, its exhibitions are always inspired, very well organised with helpful texts and audiovisual material. More
