This museum has everything you expect from a Greek History museum. Every era is covered as well as pottery galore. It is so big that I had to go back a second day to take it all in. The only downside I thought was that there is very little history of Alexander and Northern Greece. This could be because they... More

I liked the vastness of the collection, I enjoyed the explanations given with each. The museum itself is huge... I couldn't do it justice in 3 hours. What could have been better is the layout... there are too many directions to go in, after every room and one realizes later that there are rooms that have been missed out. I... More

A must see BUT all the interior/corridor rooms, the vase and small bronze collections are closed. Such an important collection BUT a lack of interest in keeping it ALL open. They say it's lack of guards on any particular day BUT these areas are always closed. More

the museum felt more like a storage facility than a world class museum, but it was hard to detract from the collection, which was undeniably amazing. More

The NAtional Archaelogical Museum is one of the jewels of Athens. Its collection is impressive. The cafeteria could offer a better service but the tables around the patio are very pleasant. There is now an exhibition showing the Antikythera mechanism. It will go on until April 28, 2013. Don't miss it! More

There are museums and there are museums, and we have seen many, but this one is exceptional. The museum is spacious and uncluttered but contains a vast collection of treasures from Greece's illustrious past. There are very famous individual pieces but the collections of pottery and goldware are stunning as well. Hard to imagine a visit to Greece and its... More

I am not big on museums when I travel. I usually find that I can see most things at the museum close to home as they bring in articles from around the world. This is an exception. Lots to things to see. It is well lit, spacious and a pleasure to the eyes. They even allowed us to take some... More

This is by far the most important museum in Athens, and in all of Greece. Do not assume, if you have visited the Acropolis Museum, that a visit to this one would be superflous or boring. On the contrary, if you only have time for one museum in Athens, make it this one. It has a far more interesting, extensive,... More
