My impressions of Athens and the people was extremely negative. The people were dour and unfriendly, with one exception. Restaurants and cafes were occupied with smokers. I found that we couldn't even sit outside without being inundated with cigarette smoke. The various attractions were dirty and the pathways leading to them were littered with cigarette buts. When you are in this new museum spend half a day there or at least 4 hours there as there are so many things to see and there is a video in different languages English, French and Greek which gives you a good reference of the history of Acropolis. Remember no photos at the museum. The package ticket for all... More

Very interesting museum housing the maquette of Athens and a great painting of GIZIS, named Carnaval. The house is an old one that hosted the king Otto for seven years. I believe that better explanation of the paintings and objects would be welcome. More

Small museum housed in a lovely 19th century building giving a very vivid sense of old Athens. Great collection of paintings and antique furniture. It has actually been a palace and that's very rare in Greece so really worth visiting. The children loved it More

The Athens City Museum was on a side street, easy to access from Syntagma Square, and a very quiet museum (I was the only customer during my visit). A small museum, housed in a resideince which outline the development of Athens as a city. If you have a lot of time available go, otherwise it can easily be skipped More
