'History more interesting than remains' may sound like a stupid, pointless comment but its really not. The remains arent boring, but theyre not great. I went to Crete excited to see the remains of the Minoan culture, but was left a little disappointed.

I found this archeological site more interesting than Knossos. Not so crowded and better preserved. It's worth the trip. Buy a combined ticktet for Gortyn, Phaestos and Agia Triada which has a very nice old chruch.
