We drove from Mochos up and toured round. The road is frequented by busses and once on the plateau, there are lots of tavernas. We decided to take a small road further up from the southmost town of th e plateau, Kaminaki and found this road to continue right on to the town of Katofigi. This road especially is stunning,... Quite a climb in the car, but beautiful and lovely little villages on the way. More

((I actually stayed in May 2009 )) - The Lassithi Plateau is a Greek experience like no other. Native, natural and beautiful. Wish we had found it sooner. Indiginous area with like of Cretan artisans - not your typical vacation destination. More

We toured the Lassithi Plateau as part of an excursion from our ship. To get to the plateau, you will traverse some wonderful mountain scenery, and negotiate some incredibly narrow and winding roads. At one point, our bus driver had to go and find the owner of a car which was partly blocking a turn in the middle of a... More

Worth your time if you rented a car - nice small villages, some hiking trips (the famous Zeus cave). Recommend. More

The road up to the Lassithi Plateau quickly takes you away from the bustling coastal road and into the peace of the mountains. The roads themselves are quite narrow with some steep hills and hairpin bends but take your time and enjoy the ever changing views. There are a number of sleepy villages each with a choice of taverna. We... More

Driving through the the famous Lassithi plateau where you can see a very few windmills still working, do not miss a very small and rural village called Agios Georgios. Look on your map at +/ 51 kms West from Agios Nikolaos. No big signs showing the way but pretty sure you will find as we did o:) Get your ticket... More

We hired a car from Koulouloufari and was easy to find as well sign posted. Scenery is amazing climbing up through the hills to get to the plain then looking down on it. It has a circular road that skirts the plateau with small villages, tavernas and craft shops. Plenty of petrol stations. Well worth it. Still has some original... More
