Visited the museum after Knossos with our private guide - the collection here is very impressive however the museum itself is presently small. The new museum is set to open very soon and is huge - as long as they can decide what to display, it will be a must-see of any visit. More

This museum in in the process of rennovation. Hence the historical artifacts are crammed into a tiny space while the museum is undergoing completion. What should take hours now only takes minutes. More

See this before or after you visit the Palace of Knossos to get the full story and enjoy the frescos that were recovered from the site. I found this very informative and it only cost 4€. More

Unfortunately the main museum is undergoing renovation (and has been for some years). There is a very limited collection on show in a temporary space. It is still definitely worth a visit but there should be so much more to see. More

Most exhibits date 3500 BC or before. Amazing! In May 2012 its being renovated so can visit only one hall, where the major artfacts are displayed. More
