was very good- the accompanying displays need redoing. Its $4 each to go in- its worth it - just - stunning views of Turkey, some nice stairs & a fountain, but otherwise not much else to see. Its a long long slog up the hill on a bicycle if you are mad enough! toilets there are clean & free. There... More

It is an ancient kind of hospital – a huge complex of buildings dating to the 5th century BC where the Greek healers treated the diseased. The main part of it was of cause the help of Gods, mainly Apollo and Asclepius. So naturally the temples were in the middle of the complex. Then there were different baths and terms... More

Visited the Asklepion during the summer and was really impressed with the ancient site. It was originally a school of medicine and used as a hospital. It consists of four interconnected sites which are accessed by a number of staircases so its not a suitable trip for the elderly of infirmed. The site is located not too far from Kos... More

The main attraction on the island of Cos is the Asklepeion, a site active in the 3rd and 4th century BC. If you come by cruise ship, the best way to get there is by the tourist elephant train. After you disembark walk along the shore with the water on your left and the castle walls on the right until... More

Take the first "road train", it goes directly to the site. Be ready to climb lots of stairs to tour the three terraced areas! The site and view from the hilltop are worth the effort, . Take the next train back, or you'll be caught in the hordes of tour groups swarming the site. More
