The cave is something to behold. The feeling you get while in the cave is unmatched by anything else. It truly feels as though something very important occurred there, despite not knowing for sure if St.John actually resided there. If you find yourself on Patmos, going to the cave is an absolute must. More

This site includes the alleged cave in which St. John wrote the Book of Revelations at the age of 95. It is a profound experience, especially if you are Christian. There is a chapel in the cave that they apparently still use for small ceremonies. More

The cave of the Apocalyspe is a special place to visit. Strangely, even though it's in a cave where you would expect it to be fresh. I thought the place was rather quite warm. The inside is richly decorated with Orthodox icons and you can even see Saint-John's sleep area which is crowned with silver or white gold. I'm not... More

Just visited the Grotto of St. John. The view was breath taking, the cave is humbling - you must bow down to pass through the cave. Reflecting upon apostle John's life and witness - all his fellow apostles had died, mostly martyred, and he heard his beloved Lord spoke to him about the eternity. Look up to the sky, and... More

This was a pilgrimage for us. I really expected to see more commercialism, but it wasn't like that. It is a very spiritual spot, take the time to sit and reflect on what John must have been going through and the miraculous events that transpired here. More

Going to this monastery was one of the most incredible things I've ever done. I got to the island for my first time in 2006 at 5am after taking the ferry from Piraeus. I walked the entire way up the hill to the monastery, starting through the buildings and the farms, and eventually finding the walkway. Some people take buses,... More

The monastery is really amazing and fascinating with all of its staircases and passageways. The view of the harbor is unforgettable. The treasury is a must - see experience -it is not very big but contains some magnificent items of precious metals and jewels. There is also an icon, an early work, painted by El Greco and brought from Crete.... More
