Although not nearly as spectacular as Lindos, Ancient Kamiros is every bit as interesting, and in many ways it is much nicer to visit than Lindos, since there are no large crowds or rows of tourist shops. Kamiros is a place where the visitor can take a leisurely, quite, and contemplative tour of a very significant and well-preserved ancient city...

The site dates back from the 6th century and it is called the Pompei of Greece. You can see remnants from antiquety, from muslim period and from the venetian occupation. You have to be informed of the opening hours as there are many strikes of the employees at archaeological sites and this site is 30 kilometres away from Rhodes town.

It cost 5 euros for the pleasant 50 minute journey which took us through several local towns and villages. Thankfully the bus went up the mountain, directly to the ruined town - it would have been a long, hot climb by...

On the arrival to Ancient Kamiros you stunted by the setting which this Ancient town is situated.
You really get a feel of the scale of the place as you are able to walk completely around the settlement and also through the middle. They don’t like visitor clambering over the stone work which is understandable. They are still doing excavations...

It is an interesting place, though I have to admitt that i expected something bigger. But it's definitelly worth seeing and shoul be on everyone's Rhodos sightseeing plan. We got there late in the afternoon and I can recommen that time of the day, as there were only 4 other people apart form us which enabled us to feel the...

We found little publicity of this remarkable discovery of the mid 1800's. Some areas date back to 500 BC and it is clear from the ruins that this was once a sophisticated settlement. In addition to the splendid temple buildings we found clear and lengthy ancient inscriptions on some of the carved marble blocks casually lying around at the lower...
