The museum doesn't have a permanent collection. So it really depends on what exhibition you encounter. The one I saw wasn't very interesting and the museum is quite small. I was quite disappointed. But as I love photography and as I often go to Thessaloniki, I will probably visit it again to see some other exhibitions.

The Museum of Photography is the only state-run museum in Greece under the supervision of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism dedicated exclusively to photography. Its mission on local, national and international level is realised: By planning and executing exhibition series, by creating archives and collections, by publishing books, catalogues and informational material and by organizing educational programs, by organizing the PhotoBiennale, the evolution of the international photography meeting Photosynkyria and by enriching the platform for dialogue through portfolio reviews, the establishment of prizes and the organization of meetings, by developing parallel activities to form a core of cultural movement in cooperation with other, by creating a meeting place, where art converses with everyday life and the pictures are accompanied by words in the series “Words and Images”.

The museum hosts nice exhibitions, but the reason that you should visit it is for the coffee shop, which lies within the museum and offers an excellent view of the port, the music is always light, and the place is ideal for reading a book. Prices are OK, and people very friendly.
